The Best Diet To Improve Fertility

When you want to improve you chances of getting pregnant, there a lot of ways in which you can do so. However, it is essential that you start by making your body the perfect place for conception and to carry on a full pregnancy.

Lifestyle changes, exercise, and diet are all part of this program. The benefits of food help provide a jumpstart to improve fertility. Here are some examples:

Lean Animal Protein

Protein is important to the preconception state of women. This nutrient is needed to build and grow muscles and organs. Protein also improves oxygen and nutrient delivery to all parts of the body. Make sure to focus on lean meat, and not on fat products.

Plant sources such as legumes, beans, and nuts are also rich in protein. This can be an important alternative, especially if you are a vegetarian.

Dairy

Milk and dairy products have long been known to strengthen bones, but it also improves fertility. However, be mindful of what type of dairy product you get. Make sure you opt for organic products, as some cows that have been injected with hormones can pass these on to their milk. When humans take these extra hormones, it can result to hormonal imbalances that may affect fertility.

Complex Carbs

Complex carbs include starch, rice, pasta, and wheat products. Carbohydrates provide sugar and energy to the body. it is important to choose complex carbohydrates as these provide a more steady and sustained release of sugar into the body.

Simple carbohydrates, as can be found in refined sugar and flour products, baked and processed goods, should be limited or avoided as much as possible. These give a temporary and sudden sugar high, which leaves you feeling more craving for food – not a good idea.

Fatty fish

Getting the good oils from fatty fish such as salmon and herring are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids that allow for increased blood flow to the uterus and help in regulating hormones.

This increased blood flow is important to the health of the reproductive organs because the more blood there is, the more properly nourished and oxygenated these organs become. As a result, they are able to function more effectively.

Oysters

Oysters are rich in zinc, which is the mineral that is essential in maintain the quality of egg and sperm. An increased intake of oysters have been linked to higher chances of conception. By ensuring the health of the two important cells needed for conception, you can possibly ensure the health of a possible successful pregnancy.

If you don’t like oyster, then get your zinc sources from beef, poultry, dairy, nuts, eggs, legumes and whole grains.

Yams

Although no scientific studies have been conducted, the likelihood of having twins is said to increase with increased intake of yams. Since no contradictions have ever been placed, well, it doesn’t hurt to try right?

Berries

Berries of all types and other citrus fruits are rich in antioxidants that are important in eliminating harmful toxins and free radicals which may lead to cancer. Make sure you eat plenty of them – they’re berry good for your fertility.

Vitamin Supplements

With proper food choices, men and women can greatly improve fertility. Add supplements and nutrients to that, and you’re increasing that chance twofolds.

Vitamin C not only contains free radicals, but they also prevent sperm from sticking or clumping together. This gives them better chances to swim into the fallopian tubes and fertilize the egg. Sources of this vitamin are oranges, kiwi, grapefruit, and green leafy vegetables.

Vitamin E is another anti-oxidant vitamin, which is helpful for both men and women.  It is essential in the absorption of minerals which are required for the reproductive system. It also increases sperm production in males. Sources include collard greens, parsley, kale, safflower oil, nuts, and beans.

Folic acid is associated with pregnancy. It is one of the most important vitamins which is needed to ensure a healthy pregnancy. It can also increase chances of getting pregnant.

In a recent study however, women who were found to be taking folic acid supplements were less at risk for ovulatory infertility than those women who aren’t taking the supplement. Reasons for why folic acid helps in improving fertility remains debatable, but experts attribute it to its uterine- friendly effects on the woman’s reproductive system. By preparing a fetus-friendly environment for the baby to grow in, it’s no wonder that pregnancy will be successful.

B vitamins provide a wide range of healthy benefits against infertility. It helps maintain the immune system, and is known to relieve menstrual cramping. Well-known sources of B vitamins are green leafy vegetables, whole grains, fish, seafood, and eggs.

Multivitamin supplements are available at any pharmacy or grocery stores. Make sure you choose a supplement that contains all of the necessary nutrients you need to improve your fertility.

The reason behind being thoughtful about skin health is that skin enhances the outer look of the human body and any kind of skin disorders can leave irremovable scars.

Acne is one such kind of painful skin disorder caused by secretion of oil and dead cells on skin pores, thereby clogging the pores. It can happen on any skin tone i.e. dry or oily skin, but it is most commonly seen in teenagers but also adults. Acne can shatter an individuals confidence because they worry about what people think of them.

Acne scar removal treatment

Heredity, hormonal changes, excessive use of oil based cosmetic products, improper diet, lack of hygiene, stress in life and undue intake of medicines containing iodides, lithium, bromides and steroids are some popular factors that trigger acne in different skin tones.

Acne causes skin inflammation on face, back, chest and neck resulting into blemishes, lesion and damage of skin cells resulting in acne scars. Most common types of acne scars are rolling scars, ice pick scars, keloid scars and boxcar scars. In some serious acne cases, scars cannot be removed permanently, but for other cases acne scar removal treatment can be helpful. Some of the most popular treatments for acne scars include:

Collagen Injections

Human and bovine collagen are used as fillers to elevate the scars and make them even with skin surface. They are induced into the scars in the form of injections. Hyaluronic acid and fat removed from patients body are all used as fillers. It is not a permanent solution for acne scars and so is needed to be repeated after few months.

Scars that are not too deep and those that are not yet active can be treated using laser rays. Light beam is aimed at scars resulting in exfoliation of skin. Laser treatment needs more than one sitting and it is expensive when done in private clinics. Laser treatment leaves skin red for few days but gives permanent solution for removal of acne scars.

Corticosteriods For Acne

Keloid and highly raised scars needs to be treated using steroids. Steroids are directly injected into the scars causing the tissue to get smaller softening the acne scar tissue. This results in better skin appearance. External medications like corticosteroid creams and tapes are also used to treat acne scars.

Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion process involves a need for giving local anesthesia to the patient. It is a kind of small operation in which revolving wire brush is used to scrape the crest layer of skin resulting into soft looking scars and reduced depth of bumpy scars. The treatment is more popular for fair skins because in case of dark skin, there are chances of change in pigmentation.

Micro-dermabrasion

Popular spas and professional dermatologist can help you to undertake micro-dermabrasion wherein ultra-fine aluminum oxide crystals are released on the skin through a tube and are then removed. The treatment is popular in case of hyper pigmentation.

Punch Techniques For Acne Scars

Ice pick scars are highly treated using punch techniques. Punch excision, punch elevation and punch grafting are all used to treat acne scars. Punch excision removes the scar tissue and sutures the skin. Punch excision is also done along with punch grafting wherein a small skin graft is performed to surface the scar tissue while the punch elevation is performed in case of deeper boxcar scars.

Hepatitis, causes and symptoms

An individual suffers from hepatitis when the cell present in the liver gets damaged either due to excessive drinking or due to some external virus and bacteria. This disease is basically known as inflammation of the liver. Hepatitis is categorized into two types i.e. viral and non viral. Further it is categorized into acute and chronic hepatitis.

Acute hepatitis

In this hepatitis the normal functioning of the liver is hindered and it lasts just for six months. In this hepatitis patients lose their immune and their liver starts getting weak. This hepatitis can occur due to excessive alcohol drinking. Excessive medication can weaken the liver cells and over dose of antibiotics too can lead to this disorder.

Chronic hepatitis

This hepatitis means a patient’s liver has been undergoing inflammation since six months. This hepatitis is very uncommon as compared to Acute and can last for years together.  In some patients the hepatitis is mild and does not cause much harm but in some patients it is very severe leading to cirrhosis. This hepatitis occurs due to drug intake and excessive drinking of alcohol. Liver damage cases sometime are much higher in patients having chronic hepatitis.

Symptoms of hepatitis

When a patient feels tired and they are prone to suffer from a liver disease. Generally when the livere gets affected patients feel weak and tired.

Patient suffering from hepatitis tend to lose weight. They do not feel like eating anything. Sometimes this symptom lasts for just a while and it gets replaced with vomiting. People who have hepatitis C tend to have pruritus. In this patients feel itching in their palms and feet.

This is caused due to the liver inflammation by Hepatitis C. it makes tbhe patient restless and he finds it difficult to sleep. Patients sometimes also experience frightening dreams at nights.

Infection by the hepatitis A virus can cause blood sugar. Thus regular blood sugar level is necessary.

Now these were just symptoms to mention, apart from these there are other symptoms like jaundice, pain in joints,  body weakness etc.

Now, that you are well aware of the causes and symptoms of hepatitis do not delay much and rush to the doctor if you feel the same.

Bulimia VS Anorexia – Which Poses The Gravest Danger?

As the author was researching dangerous psyciatric issues online, he came across a pro-anawebsite. The images and trending topics on how to lose weight the extreme way are shocking to say the least. Since this is is a psyciatric issue that many parents or relatives do not know about, the author highlights its corresponding dangers.

Every now and then, we come across two different health disorders that are so similar to each other but have very different names. Their similarity sometimes makes it hard to distinguish one from the other.

Anorexia – Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder characterized by immoderate food restriction and irrational fear of gaining weight, as well as a distorted body self-perception. It typically involves excessive weight loss. Anorexia nervosa usually develops during adolescence and early adulthood.

Bulimia – Bulimia nervosa is an eating disorder characterized by binge eating (a pattern of disordered eating which consists of episodes of uncontrollable eating.) and purging, or consuming a large amount of food in a short amount of time followed by an attempt to rid oneself of the food consumed (purging), typically by vomiting, taking a laxative or diuretic, and/or excessive exercise. These acts are also commonly accompanied with fasting over an extended period of time.

What makes differentiating between them a challenge?

The main reason why it’s hard to distinguish between anorexia and a bulimic is due to the many similarities that these two conditions exhibit.  For instance, brittle hair and nails, dry skin, sensitivity to temperature changes, and constipation are but a few of the symptoms these conditions share.  Other common denominators are the psychiatric after effects which can include guilt, fear, low self-esteem, and shame among others.

The most obvious outwardly sign with bulimics is that they usually have normal body weight whereas anorexics can be typically identified by their thin and frail continence.

Which of the two conditions poses the greatest threat to a person’s life?

Although both conditions have their own varying degrees of life-threatening factors, anorexia stands out as the more deadly. The reported lifetime prevalence of anorexia nervosa among women has ranged from 0.9% – 2.2% and 0.2 – 0.3% in men (Keski-R et al 2008).6 With regard to bulimia nervosa, estimates of lifetime prevalence among women range from 1.5% to 2% and 0.5% in men.

According to an analysis of medical literature by Jon Arcelus, MD, PhD, of the University of Leicester, England, and colleagues, their study found anorexia to carry twice death risk of schizophrenia and three times to death risk of bipolar disorder. Although anorexia is by far the deadliest eating disorder, death rates are also higher than normal in people with bulimia and “eating disorder not otherwise specified” (EDNOS, a common diagnosis for people with a mixture of atypical anorexia and atypical bulimia).

Although Bulimia and EDNOS carry significant risks, the researchers noted that people with anorexia often become bulimic and are then at a high risk of relapsing into anorexia, which further increases their death risk.  It was noted that suicide is a particular risk since one out of every five anorexics die by this means.

Apart from suicidal tendencies, which revolve around the psychological state of the afflicted, there are also very serious physiological or biological dangers associated with anorexia. Hypokalaemia for instance, is the usual cause of death in anorexia people. Hypokalaemia’s most obvious cause would be insufficient consumption of potassium (low-potassium diet) or starvation.

Another recent anorexia-related death was said to be primarily because of very low sugar levels. At the age of 19, Bethany Wallace was firmly set on being a successful model. However, despite being very attractive, she never felt she was beautiful enough. The doctors believed that her heart couldn’t take the strain she was imposing on her body as she became both anorexic and bulimic. Low blood sugar would surely not be the only cause of death but rather one of several factors leading to the unfortunate event. Why couldn’t this be averted?

Remember that teenagers, especially these days, feel that they know everything there is to know about them and what’s right for them. This was the problem Beth’s parents faced all the time. They couldn’t talk sense into her when even the mere mention of food would cause an argument. If perhaps she was a lot younger, things may have worked out for the better.

To lay some credence to that, let’s go back to the study mentioned earlier. It also found that a person’s age plays a major role in anorexia death risks.

Three fold when diagnosed before age 15.

Tenfold when diagnosed at ages 15 to 19.18 fold when diagnosed at ages 20 to 29.

Sixfold when diagnosed of ages 30 and older.

Despite all these scientific facts and data supporting the dangers of anorexia (and bulimia for that matter), there are still many individuals who believe that it isn’t a disease. Many such individuals have put up pro-ana websites and blogs that claim that it isn’t a disease but a lifestyle. One such blog exemplifies this view of being pro-ana. In the letter, you might want to take note of all the various errors made in writing as well as the state of mind the writer was in during the time of writing.

Another interesting fact about anorexia or bulimia is that it doesn’t escape even the affluent and the famous. Does anyone know what happened to Karen Carpenter, one of the great singers of the 70s? However, considering all the lives she has touched with her big contributions to the music industry, perhaps its would be fitting to remember her as someone who was very good on skins as well.
